OLD CITY KITCHEN & BAR, NEWTOWN

Back in September we were invited to attend the launch of Old City Kitchen & Bar located on Missenden Rd, Newtown. To this day that event was hands down the best launch that the crew and I have attended.

The space itself was quite large and stunning to look at with a marble topped bar, timber feature walls, a long terrace overlooking the main street and a private function space, there was no doubt in our minds that whether you were coming for a casual drink, a one on one dinner or a group booking Old City had the space to accommodate.

We were served beautiful looking and tasting cocktails and the food was absolutely sensational with recipes coming from many places across the Mediterranean eastern shore.

What really made that particular night stand out in my mind as extraordinary, was the atmosphere! There was not a single person in sight that wasn't enjoying themselves, eating, drinking and socialising whilst listening to the live Saxophone player and taking happy snaps in front of the media wall. From that night alone I knew this venue had great potential.

With my 30th birthday fast approaching and a large list of places to choose from I decided to invite all of my closest friends to Old City and ask the venue to host my birthday party. I wanted to share this important day with the people who matter the most to me in a location where oddly enough, even after one visit I felt right at home.

Dropping off my decorations and cake earlier in the day I was so thrilled to be back at Old City.

On the night we enjoyed the 'Old City New Banquet” ($49pp, minimum 4 people) which included -

Pickles, dips trio, haloumi, falafel, island salad, prawns & calamari, zucchini flowers, potato chunks, slow cooked lamb, spatchcock, kafta skewers.

The bar staff, waiters and owner Will Hussary assisted my guests and I throughout the entire evening. They were friendly, well presented, highly professional and dedicated to ensuring not only myself but that all of my guests were having a night that we would remember.

I didn't think it was possible, but Old City exceeded all of my expectations. They went above and beyond for my group and everyone left with a full stomach feeling completely satisfied and happy with the quality of food and serving sizes. I truly am so grateful my birthday night was such a success.

Will I go back? Yes - we ALL love this place and can't wait to pop in and try more delicious food off their menu.

Would I recommend a large group booking? Yes - Old City made my 30th birthday one that my friends and I will never forget.

Do I think you should put this place on your to do list? absolutely, because if you don't I personally feel like you're missing out on one of Sydney best venues.
